Kyoung Seung-Ku

Abstract
Today, the quality of jobs has deteriorated due to globalization and automation. So the working poor have emerged who remain poor while still working. In Korea, the working poor appeared after the 1998 IMF financial crisis. And the working poor continued to rise due to the 2003 credit crunch and the 2008 global financial crisis. Activation policy in Korea has been criticized for its ambiguous policies. Therefore, the study looked at the effects of the activation policy on the working poor in Korea on labor incentive effect and the escape from poverty. Labor incentive effects were analyzed using the working week and the number of working days per month, and the effects of the escape from poverty were analyzed using the state of poverty after participation in the Activation Policy. Research has shown that although the activation policy has the effect of inducing workers in some groups, it does not lead to the escape of poverty in all groups.
